Mimi's Baby Grains - cooking instructions

Mimi's Baby Grains are not instant cereals, but natural grain powders. Therefore, cooking in a liquid is necessary both for serving and for your baby's digestion. Once cooked, Mimi's Baby Grains can be refrigerated and used within 48 hours. Leftover cereal* may be microwaved in a non-plastic container to warm. Other than this reheating, Mimi's Baby Grains should not be microwaved.

Stage 1 Cereal Preparation:

Using the measuring cup provided, put one scoop of powder and 5 scoops of breast milk, formula, or water together in a small saucepan.

Bring just to a boil on the stovetop while stirring, about 3 minutes.

Cool to room temperature and serve to your baby. Cereal will thicken a little more as it cools. You can add more liquid if necessary.

This recipe yields appx. 1/2 c. of cereal.

Stage 2 Cereal Preparation:

Do not feed this or any other solid food to your baby until you and your health professional have determined that your baby is ready.

Using the measuring cup provided, put one scoop of powder and 3-4 scoops of breast milk, formula, or water together in a small saucepan.

Bring just to a boil on the stovetop while stirring, about 3 minutes.

Cool to room temperature and serve to your baby. Cereal will thicken a little more as it cools. Again, add more liquid if necessary.

Cooked cereal mix can easily be added to other fruits and veggies for later-stage eating.

*Saliva from the baby spoon will begin to break down any leftover cereal after an hour or so. Do not keep leftover cereal after mealtime.
